Hello, I’m Mackenzie

“...two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
and that has made all the difference.”

-Robert Frost, The Road Not Taken

Trying to navigate the beginning of adulthood while also going through the trauma of divorce is not an easy path. It can feel like the road less traveled.

It’s said your 20s are supposed to be the time where you learn to discover who you are, the time where you are embracing the opportunity to try new things or make different choices.

No one ever thinks that they will go through something so life altering like divorce when you thought you had your future mostly figured out.

For me, going through a divorce in my early 20s, after only a couple years of marriage, I found myself and my life as a whole taking a complete 180 degree turn.

The things that I had been pursuing weren't appealing anymore, and then I realized that those things weren’t a part of who I was meant to be.

I had to learn to take a step back and find my own path to healing.

When I did, I discovered a path into myself and began to heal by deconstructing everything I thought I knew. I began healing my body through yoga and gut health, then my mindset through personal development books and seminars, then my soul through spirituality…going deeper and deeper until finally I was experiencing life with joy again.

In this joy, I also uncovered a gift, a calling to write. I began to use it to keep healing and then felt the call to share what I’ve written with others who may have gone through the same. You see, when I was trying to find resources to help me understand divorce in my 20s, I found one blog post on a random site that was kind of helpful, but that was it.

So I wrote, and then I wrote some more. Poured my heart and my healing thoughts onto paper. Then, I put them all together and created ‘The Process’, which turned into ‘A Warriors Way’ a year later. (Both can be found and purchases by going to the books page)

I may not be following the expected path (especially for someone with degrees in Psychology and Therapy), but I have come to understand that I can use them in a different, perhaps unconventional way to help even more people.

So my friend, Welcome to Naturally Mackenzie, an space to share wisdoms learned from lifes journey.
